Ashleigh + Jonny’s Woodland Tipi Wedding

Ashleigh + Jonny’s Woodland Tipi Wedding

When Jonny and Ashleigh first contacted us, we were excited by their wedding day because they wanted a woodland wedding which has to be one of our favourite ceremony types. The only planning that they had completed when we got the call from them was that they had ‘booked a venue, some tipis and possibly a caterer, oh and they had the band booked’! This was the point when the guys found us on Instagram and were wondering just how they were going to pull off their wedding as it suddenly was becoming clear an outdoor wedding was a lot of hard work!

The previous year we were lucky enough to plan a weekend long wedding at the same venue (The Clophill Centre) and so we knew all of the quirks of the venue including the late night sound issues that we had to overcome and we already had an established and trusted relationship with the owners, giving J+A reassurance that we could advise on everything that cropped up during the planning journey.

After an initial Skype consultation it was clear that the help J+A required fell somewhere in between Wedding Day Management and Partial Planning so we created a bespoke package for them. In the run up to the big day, J+A managed all of the wedding sourcing and bookings with us on hand to guide them and offer alternative supplier solutions such as when the original catering option didn’t work out.

We were there to advise on the timings of the day and to provide advice on alcohol quantities, timings, power requirements and right down to the nitty grittiness of how many teabags might be needed for after dinner!

The wedding was in a secluded clearing in the woodland with a beautiful walk through the woodland for the bridal party before they reached the woodland aisle and then the ceremony area. Because of the setting, Ashleigh wanted her flowers to reflect the environment and so we headed to Flowers at 58 a few weeks before the wedding, to visit the flower farm and choose her flowers, greenery, foliage and herbs that made up the minimalist florals on the day.

Ashleigh’s dress was a beautiful original Edwardian dress from Elizabeth Havey and it just so happened that one of her bridesmaids is the oh so talented Grace Lane London who altered and lovingly repaired the dress and made a veil to complete the look. Grace was also responsible for creating the bridesmaids relaxed outfits – all the girls were saying how comfortable they were and they looked awesome – perfect for a relaxed tipi wedding in a woodland and field!

The wedding breakfast was just as the guys wanted – relaxed and informal with the Paella Pan cooking up a storm with dessert from Truly Scrumptious Ice Cream served from a trike. After dessert came a crazy cocktail hour fronted by Jonny’s family (the strongest cocktails ever!) and then it was onto the dancing with the Jukebox Jets. Evening food was epic cheese toasties from Warm & Toastie.

After the band finished we swapped over to a playlist and at 11pm when no amplified sound was allowed we surprised guests with a silent disco which went down a storm!

Massive thanks to Meghan Lorna who are responsible for the epic photos and who managed to capture both J+A and the vibe of their entire day so beautifully.

J+A your woodland wedding was immense and we loved being a part of it, manning the free bar in the evening was hilarious with your guest’s making it feel like we were guests and having the best time and not actually working and doing our jobs!
