Steph + Jeff’s Summer Wedding
Steph and Jeff’s summer wedding has to be one of our favourite weddings from last year, not in the least because we have known Steph and her family for over 10 years and so for us as well as being a client’s wedding this was a wedding for friends, a family we’ve been honoured to know and keep in contact with since we planned the wedding of one of Steph’s sisters 11 years previously. In 2007 Steph was a bridesmaid for her sister, fast forward to 2018 and Lorna was now to be one of Steph’s bridesmaids.
I bumped into Steph’s mother at a charity auction in 2017 and her words to me that evening were ‘I think I’m going to be calling you in the near future’. I left that evening not thinking anything more of that conversation until I saw on social media that Jeff had gone down on one knee and popped the question to his beautiful Princess and then I received the call from Mum to say, ‘we’ve got another one if you’re up for it!’
Steph and Jeff had already picked their venue after falling in love with the beautiful gardens of Chippenham Park and had managed to book their last remaining Summer Saturday, our task as an experienced planner was to book the remaining suppliers and to pull the whole day together.
This summer wedding was on one of the hottest days of the year and Steph looked amazing in her customised Galia La Hav gown from Browns Bride, London and her Christian Louboutin sneakers (perfect for comfort all day!). Steph’s dream was to be the perfect Princess on her day with a traditional wedding but a not so traditional dress or shoes!
During the reception, the champagne was free flowing and the amazing Dean Maudsley was there to steal watches (giving them back too!) and to entertain guests with his sleight of hands skills whilst guests also enjoyed gorgeous music from the string quartet.
Clare Jones Floral Design and her team of awesome flower fairies spent hours decorating the church inside and out along with the reception marquee using beautiful hydrangeas, peonies and roses whilst the stunning cake from Pretty Tasty contained flavours such as lemon & elderflower, fruit and decadent marble with chocolate ganache and vanilla buttercream.
The mouth watering food was by Crown Catering, the venue’s in house caterer. To add a pop of colour to the tables and bring additional colour to the marquee, we opted to include green water glasses. Favours were miniature Hennessy brandy bottles in honour of both their fathers.
For the evening S&J wanted to enhance their first dance and went with the option of dry ice provided by AVXpert and light up letters from The Letter Hire People. After their beautiful first dance, guests partied the night away to City Life band before heading home in the early hours.
Steph + Jeff, it was a pleasure to share your day with you and see family and friends that we had met 10 years previously. We had such fun working with you and your Mum and still get emotional when we think back to the love that was in the room during the amazing speeches and toasts for your much loved Fathers. Steph you were the most beautiful princess bride and I will always remember carrying the heavy train of your dress around for what felt like hours during photos as you melted in the heat!
