Fiona & Steve’s Copper & Geometric themed Tipi Wedding

copper and geometric themed tipi wedding

When we first met Fiona and Steve to talk all things weddings, we knew we wanted to work with them when we found out that they were holding their copper and geometric themed tipi reception at the end of a landing strip on a private airfield so when they asked us to manage their day we jumped at the chance!

Their wedding was back in September 2017 with the ceremony at the beautiful Parish Church in Waresley with a tipi reception at Little Gransden Airfield with Fiona and her Bride squad getting ready at the stunning Fullers Hill Cottages.  We were so lucky with the mid September weather but unfortunately poor Fiona was not so lucky at not being ill before the wedding.  During the week of the wedding she was struck down with illness which meant she couldn’t be onsite to decorate and set up the tipis which was one of the things she had been desperately looking forward to.  Despite being booked to only manage their day we took over the management of the tipi build and set up working closely with our friends over at the Cambridge Tipi Company and set about delving into the many boxes and bags full of decor that Steve delivered and made Fiona’s vision come to life.copper and geometric rustic wedding tables

With a theme of copper and geometrics, the tipis looked stunning with minimal styling on the rustic dining tables and a giant glitter ball and geometric installation above the dance floor that was a collaborative effort between Fiona, Steve and ourselves.

The amazing cakescape was from The Linton Kitchen with a gorgeous array of cakes with delicious flavours of red velvet, Victoria sponge and carrot cake with a chocolate brownie tower and lavender shortbreads which were divine!

Guests arrived at the tipis to a canapés and drinks reception with beer served from a vintage wheelbarrow along with Pimms and fizz served from a vintage Welsh dresser which included a Pimp Your Prosecco section with lethal home made Sloe Gin!!

The bridal transport was a tuk tuk from Ely Tuk Tuk’s which Fi and Steve had seen one of our early Summer brides use – we were lucky enough to use a shortcut across the fields and a neighbouring farm to get from the cottages to the Church but we’re told it was a hair raising ride which all of the girls loved – they certainly arrived at the church looking exhilarated from the journey!  As a surprise for Steve, Fiona had arranged for a 1965 Shelby Mustang (aka Eleanor from the Nicolas Cage Film ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’) to collect him from home and drive him to the church and she was a great focal point in the pub car park during the ceremony!

With a friend DJ’ing in the evening and LOVE letters and heart hired from The Letter Hire People the evening party carried on late into the night with guests also enjoying a stunning vintage photobooth from The Boho Booth and a cocktail flair tender who dazzled everyone with his stunning tricks and skills!  Fiona and Steve it was a pleasure to be a part of your day and we wish you all the best for your married life ….. ps. please can we have some more of the sloe gin when you next make some!
