Srishti + Thom’s Indian British Fusion Wedding

Srishti + Thom’s Indian British Fusion Wedding

Srishti and Thom both live in London and approached us approximately 12 months prior to their wedding to plan their Indian British fusion wedding in Staffordshire. For the actual wedding, the weather was perfectly British and whereas during the tent build during the week before the weather had been gloriously hot and sunny, the wedding weekend was torrential rain! In true Indian style though the weather did nothing to dampen the celebrations!

wedding mehndi

On Friday night, there was a Mehndi for approx 100 guests held at the De Vere Crange Estate which was the couples base for the weekend. Coverstory Weddings and Events worked their magic to bring in elements of bright orange and fuchsia with Gin House flowers styling copper lanterns with matching florals. A fantastic evening of music and dance followed and ALOT of alcohol was consumed; on the wedding morning, there were several hangovers in full force!

Srishti and her girls stayed at De Vere Cranage ready for the hair and make up team to work their magic on the wedding morning. Thom had a more leisurely start to his day by staying with his mum the night before with the men of the wedding party treated to having their turbans tied professionally by the Turban Pro with material flown in from India to match the colour scheme of the day.

The venue for the wedding ceremony and reception was the beautiful Whitmore Hall, which exclusively only hosts 2 weddings per year. With front and back lawns and ornamental lakes surrounded by parkland it was a beautiful choice of venue and one which Thom’s family had links to.

After a legal civil ceremony during the week, the guests arrived at Whitmore Hall to take part in the bridal Baraat (a procession for the Bride usually reserved for the Groom’s entrance but Srishti wanted the guests to get the full experience of an Indian ceremony, so we shifted things up a little and went non traditional with the help of the brilliant Dhol Drillerz).

Thankfully the week before the wedding, despite the heatwave, we were keeping an eye on the weather forecasts and ordered 100 bright orange brollies which were well used on the day! Despite the torrential rain all the guests joined in with the procession from the house, around the front lawn and into the traditional marquee that held the mandap for the Hindu ceremony where Thom was waiting patiently for his bride. Priest Kamlesh Vyas travelled up from Bristol to host the ceremony under a beautiful greenery and marigold laden mandap from Gin House Flowers.

Following the ceremony and drinks reception, guests headed into the reception marquee, this time a clear span marquee with a handprinted Indian lining from Red Crest Events. To keep the orange theme we added bright orange tassels that came all the way from India with Srishti’s parents and little gold glitter elephants with ruby eyes for the favours.

Guests were treated to an Indian feast from Indus Catering and the evening party got off to a swing with the brilliant Absolute 70’s band with DJ Joei Supernova bringing the party home until 2am. As the guests made their way back to the De Vere Cranage on coaches there was only a few hours left until the farewell BBQ lunch!
